Dujiao Qilin: A Unicorn Qilin

独角麒麟 (Modern Simplified Chinese)
獨角麒麟 (Traditional Old Chinese)
Du Jiao Qi Lin (Standard Mandarin P.R. Chinese Pinyin Spelling)

"Du Jiao Qi Lin" is pronounced "Doo Djyaow Tchee Leen" (For English letter pronunciation speakers)

IT'S NOT PRONOUNCED "kwee-lihn"!!!!!!!!!!!
How many millions of times must i explain this to the same people over & over!!!!!!



Side Notes: 麒麟 usually written in Pinyin as "Qilin" is also written as "Qiling", because due to variations in pronciation "g" can be added to some words. Proncing 麟 as "lin" or "ling".

Other Dialects would pronouce it as:
Kee Leen
Kee Leeng
and various other pronunciations.

In Japanese it is called a "Kirin" Pronouced "Kee-Reen"

This god is not just a 麒麟 (Qilin), it has 1 horn, thus it is a 独角麒麟 (Dujiao Qilin), meaning "1-horned" or "unicorn".

I still went for a closer to traditional color with GOLD, and I also went for a cloud walking scene... din't expect him to come out like this... It just happened...

But, from the sketch, I KNEW I liked the personality, because this one is ALL personality... the background did tone it down a bit... but, he's very spirited, as you can SEE!


I wanted to play with more colors, and even tho' I didn't want to do a light colored fur, I still went with a golden color....

I wanted to play more with blue and reds... i also have tones of green throughout...
