Drawing Comic Book Fists the Cheaters' Way

NOTE: This sheet uses a female hand.

Another of the basics, this fist uses the typical Bubble Structure. This trick is very commonly used throughout comics and continues to be used and reused. There are several variations of this trick, and each artists will have there own take on it.

It can be modified to produce a male hand by drawing the lines of structure with more angular and squared, or more defined knuckles.

The thumb can be modified from a round bubble to a long elips.

Knuckles can be added or omitted just by adding simple lines, of even more lined to show aging and gnarling, or even masculine.

Studying your own hand will be the best help you can get. Studying comic book art is also a must.

NOTE: The great thing about this trick is that you don't always need to create the fist to be exactly perfect. Several comic artists draw hands and fists which aren't correct, but since it's a stylization is doesn't actually matter. Remember, it's stylized. So, you can draw it however you like. And when it comes down to it, most people don't focus upon the hands ina comic book style drawing.... *a-hemmm* They are typically oogling other parts of the figures. That's why it's SUCH A GREAT CHEAT!!!!!

Ok, I feel like I must be having a dumb moment.  Your description says "Full View to READ the Tutorial Sheet!!!!!!!" is there anything on the full view that is different than the regular view?  I've clicked full view, but it looks the same (slightly bigger obviously)...I know this was submitted in 2005...so maybe a DA coding issue?  Or maybe I'm just dumb?
