:star: 绿独角麒麟 ( 綠獨角麒麟 ) "Lü Dujiao Qilin": The Greenish Dujiao (unicorn) Qilin

:star: Original 2002 Sketch : [link] :star:

* I didn't want to go the rout of everyone else with greens... so I went a bit more of a paradot green...
* Also, the fur has allot of pinks and greys in it.

Tho', I'm noticing the colors look different in a webbrowser than they do in photoshop. :(

I worked on this one for about 2 nights.

When I was originally sketching this one, I was trying to infuse some personality into these gods. So, this one is sort of shaking off it's head and stretching... I often see cattle doing this when i observe them. BUt, I've seen horses doing it too.

It kind of reminds me of some other peices I've done:

:star: This Chinese god is called a:

:star: 独角麒麟 (Modern Simplified Chinese)
:star: 獨角麒麟 (Traditional Old Chinese)
:star: Du Jiao Qi Lin (Standard Mandarin P.R. Chinese Pinyin Spelling)

:star: "Du Jiao Qi Lin" is pronounced "Doo Djyaow Tchee Leen" (For English letter pronunciation speakers)

:star: :spotlight-left: IT'S NOT :angered: PRONOUNCED "kwee-lihn"!!!!!!!!!!! :spotlight-right:
:slap: How many millions of times must i explain this to the same people over & over!!!!!! :x

Side Notes: 麒麟 usually written in Pinyin as "Qilin" is also written as "Qiling", because due to variations in pronciation "g" can be added to some words. Proncing 麟 as "lin" or "ling".

:star: Other Dialects would pronouce it as:
Kee Leen
Kee Leeng
and various other pronunciations.

:star: In Japanese it is called a "Kirin" Pronouced "Kee-Reen"

**************************

:star: This god is not just a 麒麟 (Qilin), it has 1 horn, thus it is a 独角麒麟 (Dujiao Qilin), meaning "1-horned" or "unicorn".

独角= "1-horned" refering to a unicorn. (Du Jiao)
独角兽 = the term for "Unicorn" ( Du Jiao Shou)
麒麟= Qi Lin

If you can't catch a wave then you'll never ride it.

If you can't be a good example, you might as well be a horrible warning.
I didn;t want the same kind of green color like this one: [link]

So, I tried a more paradot green color.

I have forgotten that men cannot see Unicorns.
If men no longer know what they're looking at,
there may be other unicorns in the world yet,
unknown, and glad of it. -The last unicorn.
Wow! It's beautiful!
