This is the Original Illustration of this drawing. It's too big to scan, so I did 2 scans and tried to fit them together.

:star: About This Peice:

I origtinally drew this in Highschool at BCIT Medford Campus (New Jersey, USA) in the "Environmental Studies" room (or as we called it "shop"). I think I was about 16 or 17. I spent about 2 weeks on this for hours strait. And, it has so many fine intricate details on it. You just can't see it in the scan. I don't think I could ever do something like this ever again, and this period of my life is gone and over. It's the only drawing like this that I know of.

I've done many digital versions of this picture, and it's produced some of my best selling prints ever. It's instantly recognizable, and everytime I show it somewhere, there's always people who've seen it or knew of it "somewhere on the internet". It's been stollen by all kinds of teenagers and posted on websites all over the globe, and even used as people's avatars. ;P So, I guess that just means people like it. :D

Even whilest i was working on this peice, 2 guys tried to steel it, repeatedly, and I'd never have pegged them for art thieves when it comes to "uniconrs" because let's face it, those were the types who wore WuTang Clan Klan clothes, and ganster Hip Hop music.... yet, there they were trying to devize ways of stealing this peice without it even being completed.

There were also instances of others trying to steal it when I was in college! I figured amoung other artists, i could trust people! But, there I am in the computer room, having just finished scanning it and 2 long haired guys are walking away with it. "Oh, this is YOUR sketch?"
Also, MANY people tried walking off with this portfolio durring "Portfolio Review" on Graduation day, that i ended up just holding it, and showing it only if others asked... and they asked!

So, I'm really paranoid about this sketch, that i don't even hang it up. It's always tucked away in my portfolio.

The thing I hear allot is "You did this? You're really the one who did this?"
C'mon! What's so hard to believe??? Yeah, I did it! I poured my heart into that!

I actually was so attached to this peice that I never wanted to sell it.

*************************************************

:star: But, if anyone is actually interested in purchacing this particular peice, I may actually be willing to part with it to a serious art collector, for no less than $250,000 And, that's all i have to say about that...

I do have prints available for much cheaper, like afew bucks, if you want some, and even the color veriosn, including the stuff in my "Prints" gallery here on Dev Art. Just klick my "Prints" link. ;P

Not having 250K, I'll just fave it instead ; ) The shading of it really jumps out at you. I'm on a rotten little monitor and the thumbnail alone was stunning.

Very nice drawing. I love the shadows and highlights. The only thing I don't like about it is the tail.

Sounds like you had quite an adverture with this picture! :D

And I think the best part is the shading, the textures. That's what really impresses me.
